Sleep is super important to be able to ensure your overall health and wellness. But did you know that the position you sleep in can have major impact on your day to day?

  1. The Best- Flat on Your Back
    • Sleeping flat will keep your back aligned and allows your body to follow its natural curve, this way you’ll be able to give your spine a break from daily activities.
  2. Sleeping on Your Side
    • Sleeping on your side is another way to keep you aligned, but there is a correct way to sleep on your side. It’s easy to fall into a twisted position while your asleep on your side.
  3. Fetal Position
    • Sleeping in the fetal position will not keep you aligned but it is a good option for those who have a herniated disc or any pain associated with pinched nerves. Next time you’re in, ask Dr. Eric if he would recommend this sleeping position for you!
  4. The Worst- On Your Stomach- Dr. Eric’s Favorite
    • Sleeping on your stomach can put a lot of extra pressure on your spine and cause your back and neck to get out of alignment. This can cause you to be more restless and experience more headaches through your day.

Changing your sleeping position can be very difficult at first, but if you stay dedicated to falling asleep in the correct position, your body will naturally begin to get used to the change.
